In 1868, Marcelino Sautuola discovered Paleolithic paintings inside Altamira’s caves, in Cantabria. In trying to introduce the discovery to the academic world, Sautuola was met with skepticism and claims that the paintings were made in a effort to get rich, as well as friction with The Church. He then dedicated his life to struggling for the vindication of his discovery.
